|Various Artists - Christmas: 16 Most Requested Songs|
|Written by Jim Wood|
This collection of Christmas classics takes me back to my childhood, listening to the records my mother would dust off and play as soon as Thanksgiving rolled around. All of the great ones are included here by artists that are not usually associated with them.
There is, of course, the requisite "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" by the only person that should sing it, Gene Autry, but some of the other songs are welcome surprises. It is refreshing to hear Doris Day sing "Here Comes Santa Claus", and Rosemary Clooney does a great version of "Winter Wonderland".
A lot of other collections include "The Christmas Song", but this disc provides the song by its creator, Mel Torme. A few of the other highlights are Patti Page, Andy Williams, and Tony Bennett performing traditional carols, as well as everyone's favorite sing-along partner, Mitch Miller. This collection would make a great addition to anyone’s Christmas CD library.
